Thiel Audio CS3.5, Impeccable Condition

Thiel Audio manufactured highly sought after hi-end loudspeakers from their Kentucky factory from 1977 to 2018.  Brothers, Jim and Tom Thiel, and partner Kathy Gornik made their name in audio with the study and design of speakers that compensated for time delays between high and low frequency drivers due to the non-concentric nature.  Their studies showed that our ear/brain interpret even the tiniest of time delays as "wrong," which listeners tend to describe as "unmusical" or "unrealistic" sound.

The Coherent Source design used both physical and electrical means to compensate for these anomalies.  Thiel's signature sloped front baffle was the most visible result of these studies.  The CS3.5 is one of the company's finest designs featuring Thiel's signature look, 1-st order crossover network, and hand-selected Scanspeak and Dynaudio components.  The 3-way design uses a 1.1" ferrofluid cooled soft dome tweeter, 3.5" thin paper cone midrange in close alignment, and a 12" coated paper cone long-throw woofer.  This combination is seamless and natural-sounding.  Vocals and midrange instruments are nearly perfect.  And the big woofer thumps along effortlessly below 200Hz. 

The real, book-matched Black Ash veneer this set finish is strikingly beautiful.  

This set has been thoroughly examined, all drivers tested.  The tweeters have been serviced with new ferrofluid to bring back their brilliance.   The metal and wood framed grilles and original grille cloth are in excellent shape, with only slight "cupping" around the outer corners.  The optional, and sometimes recommended CS3.5 EQ is included with this set, as well as the original shipping cartons.
