VPI HW-19 Turntable, An Extraordinary Setup!
VPI Industries, Inc. has been making exceptional, hand-assembled turntables in New York for over forty years. A family-owned company, VPI has provided amazing products and excellent service for generations of music lovers. The HW-19 belt-driven turntable is an iconic piece of equipment with heavy-duty build quality, great looks, and stellar performance.
This particular HW-19 is even more special. The solid oak base and multi-point suspension plinth are in perfect condition. The motor keeps perfect speed. The unit was purchased in 1985 and was fitted with a rare Souther SLA-3 linear tracking, manual-operated tonearm. The Souther tonearm also includes the original box and a number of setup tools and accessories. The dust cover does show a few scratches on top, and two cracks at the mounting hinges, but overall it is very functional and clear.
An Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge has been configured for this unit, with a brand new stylus just added.
Finally, the package is completed with vintage "TipToes" coupling spikes to ensure the table is coupled to the mass below it to reduce unwanted vibrations traveling through the suspension.
You will be hard-pressed to find another table as special and unique as this one.
This unit is HEAVY and due to its fragile nature, it cannot be shipped, however personalized courier service may be available.
Demos are available at our Lawrence, MA showroom with COVID precautions in place.
